The Overland Track

 






The Overland Track is a 77.7 kilometer heavily trafficked point-to-point trail located near Cradle Mountain, Tasmania, Australia that features a lake and is rated as difficult. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, camping, and backpacking and is best used from November until April.

Entry to this national park requires purchase online or in-person of a valid parks pass from the Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service, visit: https://passes.parks.tas.gov.au. Permits required from October to May. During these months, the walk must be completed north to south and you will need to reserve in advance. Around 8000 people from all around Australia and the world walk the track each year. It is a challenging hike that requires good physical fitness. The weather along the route can be unpredictable, so bring cold weather gear and waterproof shoes.
